About Septic Tank Conversion
Septic tank conversion units are worth considering as a solution for a poorly performing septic tank. In principle these conversion units are used to upgrade an existing septic tank or cesspool into a fully functioning sewage treatment plant.
These conversion systems are mainly used where an existing septic tank is causing problems and the waste water needs to be treated sufficiently to allow safe discharge into a watercourse e.g. ditch or stream.
When considering converting an existing septic tank it is important to select a system that produces an effluent that can safely be discharged into a ditch or stream – either a system that completely converts or one which allows treatment of the overflow from the septic tank in a separate treatment stage involving the installation of an additional tank.
In either scenario it is important to ensure that the final effluent produced is suitable for discharge by satisfying Environment Agency criteria for being granted either a permit to discharge or alternatively exemption from requiring such a permit – unless your system has either then you could be liable to a heavy fine and closure of your plant.
