Forecourt Separators
These are effectively full retention separators. They are designed to retain on site the maximum spillage likely to occur at a petrol filling station. These specialised separators are mandatory for obvious safety and environmental reasons – they will handle spillages during vehicle refuelling and/or fuel tanker delivery. For these reasons the capacity of the separator is increased to cope with the potential spillage from one compartment of a fuel tanker – this can be as much as 7,600 litres.
Forecourt separators are classified Class 1or 2. They may not need what is known as a coalescing filter if they discharge into a foul sewer, with the appropriate water authority consent.
